AA Premium Ling Zhi (Ganoderma), 100 capsules 550 mg each, M&A Pharmaceutical Factory, Hong Kong

Chinese Lingzhi or Ling Zhi, Japanese name Reishi, Korean name Yeongji or Hangul, Latin name Ganoderma lucidum is one of the most precious and rare wild medicinal plants in China. Chinese people say: "Ling Zhi the miraculous plant, has the virtue of raising the dead and giving them life again".

Ling Zhi has some anti-tumor, immunotherapeutic activities, supported by studies on polysaccharides, terpenes, and other bioactive compounds isolated from fruiting bodies and mycelia of this fungus.

It is adaptogenic, anti-hypertensive and anti-allergenic due to the presence of triterpenes.
Ling Zhi has been found to be antiviral, anti-parasitic, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-hypotensive, antidiabetic, and the liver protecting. It has also been found to lower blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar and to inhibit platelet aggregation. [1][2][3]

Because of these properties, lingzhi has been regarded as blood pressure stabilizer, antioxidant, analgesic, a kidney and nerve tonic. It has been used in bronchitis prevention and in cardiovascular treatment, and in the treatment of high triglycerides, high blood pressure, hepatitis, allergies, chemotherapy support, HIV support, and even for fatigue and altitude sickness. [4][5][6]

Some peer-reviewed studies indicate that ganoderic acid has some protective effects against liver injury by viruses and other toxic agents in mice, suggesting a potential benefit of this compound in the treatment of liver diseases in humans.[7]

Lingzhi has been used to treat and prevent immune disorders including allergy in traditional Chinese medical practice. It is now being studied by a major prestigious East Coast medical school as a major component in anti-asthma and food allergy herbal formulas. T lymphocytes play a central role in many immune disorders.

To explore the mechanisms of actions of Lingzhi on allergic disorders, this study compares the effects of Lingzhi to dexamethasone on allergen-primed and normal T cells in vitro. The study will describe how the immunomodulatory effect of Lingzhi on T cells is different from dexamethasone’s overall suppression of all lymphocytes. The conclusion: immunomodulatory actions of Ling Zhi should benefit patients with immune suppression and allergy.

Although the experiences in fighting cancer are more inconsistent, the extract has been claimed to be effective in regressing tumors. The results depend on the type of cancer and the severity of the condition. It is usually recommended that it be used in combination with other prescribed medical treatments and with supporting herbs (See Canelim herbal formula).

The Ganoderma extract has been employed to help substantially reduce or eliminate the side-effects of radio- and chemotherapies if it is taken before, during and after the treatments. It has been found clinically to reduce side-effects like hair loss, nausea, vomiting, stomatitis, sore throat, loss of appetite and insomnia.

Lingzhi is also being recognized as a possible supplement in cancer management. While used as popular medicine since ancient times, it is now a herbal supplement frequently promoted as a cancer cure (though this claim requires more scientific research). It is now well-established from in vitro and animal studies that the polyshaccharide fraction of Ling Zhi (Ganoderma) is largely responsible for its anti-tumor efficacy.

Indications for Lingzhi supplemental use can be indirectly supported with clinical trial data from comparable fungal polysaccharides because of a common final pathway of action mediated via beta-glucan receptor. Based on such indirect data, indications for Ganoderma use in cancer include supplementation
1.) to reduce side effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy,
2.) to prolong survival and minimize metastasis,
3.) to improve quality of life,
4.) to prevent occurrence or recurrence.

Scientists say that although the cure of any cancer with Ling Zhi alone is unlikely, it is beneficial under defined circumstances in most cases of malignancy.
